COURSE OVERVIEW

 The Introduction to Reinsurance course offers a foundational understanding of reinsurance by exploring its origins, core functions, and key structural forms, while introducing the essential concepts that underpin modern reinsurance practices. In this course, we shall examine the concept of risk and reinsurance, discuss the process of risk management, highlight the functions of reinsurance in promoting financial stability, enabling insurance innovation, and supporting global risk distribution. We shall analyse the role of the reinsurance market, delve into the two primary reinsurance arrangements—facultative and treaty—detailing how each operates, when they are used, and the strategic considerations behind their selection, and explore the distinction between proportional and non-proportional reinsurance, offering insights into how risk and premium are shared between insurers and reinsurers under each structure.

This course is designed for (re)insurance professionals with a maximum of 3 years of experience looking to learn reinsurance from ground up.


LOGISTICS

The webinar is free of charge. Participants are required to have a good internet connection and a digital device - preferably a laptop or tablet. The webinar will be conducted via TEAMS and each participant will be required to install this application in advance before the webinar.
DELIVERY There shall be a 90-minute presentation by the facilitators followed by a 30-minute Question & Answer session to address any questions, comments, or observations from participants.
