Introduction to ZEP-RE Academy
ZEP-RE Academy was established in 2016 as the capacity-building arm of ZEP-RE (PTA Reinsurance Company) to bridge the critical skills gap in the insurance and reinsurance industry across Africa.
The ZEP-RE Academy’s growth has been driven by strategic partnerships with various insurance training colleges, institutes, and associations to develop specialized training programs tailored to the unique needs and challenges of each market.
Its flagship program
Its flagship program - the Proficiency in Short-Term Reinsurance Practice & Claims Management (PSTRP), is delivered in collaboration with the College of Insurance (Kenya). This program is specifically designed for (re)insurance professionals in underwriting, claims, and technical accounting, equipping them with essential skills to navigate complex reinsurance operations. Additionally, the Academy has been recognized by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) UK, to award CII CPD accreditation for ten of its courses, proving the credibility of Academy’s courses in meeting global professional standards in contributing to professional development in the sector.

Our Mission
Beyond professional development, ZEP-RE Academy is deeply committed to financial literacy and inclusion. A key initiative under this commitment is its work with the De-risking, Inclusion, and Value Enhancement (DRIVE) project in the Horn of Africa, where the Academy has provided specialized training on Index-Based Livestock Insurance (IBLI). These programs empower vulnerable pastoralist communities with knowledge on climate risk insurance, enabling them to build financial resilience against drought and other climate-related shocks.
